(W3lanka, May 17, 2009, Colombo) Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) that fought for more than three decades for a seperate Tamil state in the north and east of the island is hesitating to admit the total elimination of its leadership by the state forces.
As some pro-LTTE websites were caught red handed in their attempts to show the leader Velupillai Prabakaran was alive through graphically edited photos, the most prominent pro-Tiger website Tamilnet ran a statement of one hitherto-unknown Head of International Secretariat of the Intelligence wing of the LTTE, Arivazhakan.
“Our beloved leader is alive,” he said and added that the LTTE leadership will make contact with its people at a suitable time in future, Tamilnet reported.
However, reliable sources say that the government has not only eliminated the entire top and middle level LTTE leadership locally and it has laid the net to suppress the remaining persons both locally and internationally based on the recenly gathered information.
Meanwhile, two members of an LTTE guerilla team in the Eastern Province jungles surrendered to Kanjikudichchiaru police station in Ampara district yesterday via Red Cross putting the remaining guerillas in utmost difficulty of existing.
